Five Tips for Beginners
1. Start with one book and go deep Don't try to journal the entire Bible at once!! Pick one book — we recommend John — and stay there. Let it slow you down. Ask questions. Write what you notice. Let God meet you in the pages.
2. There is no wrong way to do it Artistic spreads with watercolors?? Beautiful. Simple highlights and handwritten notes?? Equally beautiful. Printed inserts and washi tape with zero original artwork?? Absolutely gorgeous. Your Bible journaling practice belongs to YOU — there are no rules.

Step 1 — Choose your passage Pick a short passage — 5-10 verses maximum. Less is more when you are starting out!!
Step 2 — Read it three times First read for understanding. Second read for what stands out. Third read asking "God what do you want me to see here??"
Step 3 — Highlight key words and phrases Use your color coding system to mark what stands out!!
Step 4 — Write your observations in the margin What do you notice?? What questions do you have?? What is God showing you?? Write it in your own words — no fancy theological language required!!
Step 5 — Add a tip-in or insert Attach a printed insert related to the passage using washi tape or a glue stick!! This is where your Bible starts to become truly beautiful and personal. 🌸
Step 6 — Close with a written prayer At the bottom of the page or on a sticky note — write a one or two sentence prayer responding to what God showed you in the passage!!
